Some things do you know and others do you learn. I’ve learned a lot lately but my knowledge about how to get your hands on Dutch picture books or children's books have increased the most. Let me share some knowledge since there are a lot of questions about it.
I work at the Dutch Playgroup in Port Melbourne where we have a small library- so going to a Dutch school or Playgroup can help you out in the search for books for the little ones.
Digital Market
We are Dutch so we like our books for free. If you search online you will find a lot of free picture books. There is this large digital market. Let’s start the easy way; as a parent you don’t have to do anything. Just put on a film from YouTube where you can find Kikker and others like boekenfilmpjes.

Maartje tipped me about Yoleo.nl – it helps children who have some difficulty’s reading (Dutch) The first chapter is free, so you can find out if you like the story. After that you’ll buy a book presented in an original layout, with illustrations and read out loud with natural voice. ​

When you still have an address in the Netherlands or just some sweet (grand)parents you can open an account at the local library and lent some amazing e-books. Want to know which one to choose? Use the help of Leesplein

Want to listen to books while traveling or during dinner? Use Dutch audiobooks.
Buying
Just want to buy them? You have to wait a while and pay for the sending but these stores send overseas. If it doesn't work just e-mail the servicedesk and they will help you. Here are some Dutch and Belgium stores;
